Jeff Mottle
Does anyone know if there is a way, without MAXscript, to randomly rotate objects in the Z axis. I have a bunch of gemoetry trees and I want to be able to have them randomly rotated so they don't all face the same direction.
Chad Warner
This is someone's site....Quizzy's maybe? He has a random rotate script you can download: http://www.3idee.nl Not sure if you meant no maxscript at all, or you just didn't want to write it. abicalho
You maybe able to put a bezier noise controller on the Z_Rotation of them and play with their values. Or maybe an expression, script or wire controller associated to their position, randomizing it as you move/clone them. But scripting it is so easy (I know, I know): For i in selection do i.rotation.z_rotation = random 0.0 360.0 Alexander
Jeff Mottle
I knew there was a script out there already. I spent an hour looking for it and go figure Quizzy already programmed it! Alex: Yeah I know scripting is easy...blah blah blah.... I did know some MS a few years ago, but it's been so long and my brain can only hold so much infomation at once. I'd have to purge something to fit MS in there.
blaz
can u use the scatter command, it works in simple geometry, but not sure for a complex geometry like trees. you can have a try... and let us know it is inside the compound objects
quizzy
yes yes... I allready programmed it... but the script does not work on groups... so only editable meshes (single objects..)
