Craig Ramsay
We just got a new top of the range Apple dual pecessor G5 in the office and we tried the radial blur speed test... The G5 absolutely wasted my dual athlon 2000+, it looked to be about twice as fast :gebigeek: not bad!
STRAT
not bad atall, but in tests the new G5 isn't as fast as some of the fastest 32 bit pc's around at the mo. that'll all change when our 3d apps are specially written to utilise a 64 bit machine. kainoa
Have you tried benchmarking anything else besides PS? Did you read this thread: http://www.cgarchitect.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000305

Ace_Face
We tested our new dual 2 Gig G5 against our fastest Dual 2 Gig G4 using Cinebench and it was double the speed. When the new version of Cinebench (optimized for the G5) came out we ran a new test and it was another 30% faster. Render speeds with Cinema 4D are much faster on the G5 even without being optimized for 64 bit processing. Once Panther comes out We'll run some more tests to see what additional speed increases that makes.
