Greg Law
I have a New Quadro 4000 which I have started using 3dsmax 2011 design with it. I have notice a lack of preformance with it. I was wondering it there was any special setup need for max to use the gpu. With my current setup I expected better. I7 950 12gig ram Quadro 4000
Devin Johnston
Make sure you have the latest Max performance drivers.
Sketchrender
Max preformance drivers ? Are the Nvidia drivers not sufficient to cover it. I have installed a GTX 480 and see a small bit of gittering, so is there another driver apart from the new 160.*** from Nvidia. Is the Max performace loaded on top of the Nvidia one? very confused......... phil
Greg Law
Make sure you have the latest Max performance drivers. Thanks for the reply. I didn't think Max2011 had preformance drivers. Where do I get them?
Devin Johnston
Go to this site, put in your card and pick the 3DS Max performance drivers, that should give you the best drivers available. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Trick
Thanks for the reply. I didn't think Max2011 had preformance drivers. Where do I get them? Only the QuadroFX range has specific Max Performance drivers, also for Max2011. The new Quadro x000 range still has no specific Max driver, which is quite annoying
Itoosoft
There are Max Performance drivers for Quadro 4000, although a bit hidden: http://www.nvidia.com/object/maxtreme_workstation.html I'm using it and the speed improvement is very noticeable. Trick
I have this driver for my QuadroFX...did not know these were suitable for the Quadro range, since they can not be downloaded as Quadro drivers...
Itoosoft
It's a problem of the drivers search webpage. As example, it doesn't return any result searching Max drivers for Quadro 4000, Windows 7 64 bit, but it does for Windows 7 32 bit, although exists drivers for both. Strob
Hi, could you tell us how much faster it is with the perfomance drivers? I use 3dsMax and I want to buy a new graphic card I just read the graphic card review in 3D World, http://www.3dworldmag.com/page/3dwo...136_of_3d_world they compare ATI FirePro V5800, V7800 and V880 with Nvidia Quadro FX 1800, Quadro 4000 and Quadro 5000. For 3dsMax the obvious winner for me is the ATI Firepro V7800 which only 614$ at NCIX beat the Quadro 5000 (2400$) by far in the 3dsMax viewport flythrough test (ATI:155.7 versus Nvidia:217.6 score, lower is better) ! The problem is that they did not have the performance driver for max and quadro. I would like to know if anyone here has one of these quadro and have tested it with and without the performance driver on 3DSMAX to know if they could beat the ATI. Itoosoft
Hi, could you tell us how much faster it is with the perfomance drivers? There is a huge difference, about 150% to 200% faster, using as reference the FPS stats on a same scene, using Max performance or DirectX. Much more if the scene requires to draw 2D elements (lines, dots...). Also, with my last card (8800GT) i had many problems using it in Max 2010 / Windows 7: about one second lag selecting objects, jerky movement and so. Instead, this Quadro 4000 with the performance drivers works like a charm.
