Render elements, how?

Hi

 

Does anyone have a good guide or something to Render elements? And how to add them together?

Everything just renders out black and white or looks wrong...

 

Im using mental ray and composite (comes with max 2011:) ), and i want to do the composition there but i cant find what elements i need or how to get i the parts out of max.. Or Photoshop for stills..

 

The only thing that looks right is z-depth
