Sketchrender
I have come across somebody running a piece of software from Dropbox and the licence is linked back to a server. Why can't this be done for all software ? Any ideas. Phil
Brodie Geers
hrm...what's the advantage exactly? Just that you don't have to install the software on each machine individually? That could be nice but are there other advantages I'm missing? I've been doing something similar but never with having the whole install in dropbox (in order to save space mostly). I've got my SketchUp plugins and exports folder in dropbox and then use a windows function that works sort of like a Shortcut in order to link those folders in my dropbox to the ones in the normal install folder (http://wiki.dropbox.com/TipsAndTricks/SyncOtherFolders). So all of my computers reference back to the same Plugins folder on my dropbox. Whenever I add a plugin from one computer it is automatically added to the others. Similarly I used to have my Firefox profile on dropbox as well and just pointed Firefox to look for it there. All of my bookmarks and preferences were always synced. Even my open tabs were synced so I could open a website I found on my work computer at the end of the day, close out firefox and then when I got home and opened FF, it would open that same tab I'd found at work. -Brodie
