royalblue
Hi all, I have a problem with max's materials paths. If I create a material with some maps, and then store that in a .mat file, and then try to use that .mat file in another file, it doesnt remember bitmaps - not only doesnt it find the path to the bitmap, it wont remember it's name. I am sure that the folder in which bitmaps are located is included in 'configure user paths - external files', so in theory there shouldnt be a problem. And this was never a problem with previous versions of max, but in 2010 it is. So does anyone know why this is happening?

Ive noticed this problem also, my workaround was to merge the object from the other file that mat was used in. Did you load the latest service pack? BrianKitts
Its a bug with 2010, the service pack was supposed to fix it but I found that wasn't always the case. I rebuilt all my materials in 2011 after 2010 buggered it all up. Luckily in 2011 its no longer a problem.
Tommy L
Thanks Brian. Ive found 2010 to be my favorite and most stable release to date. But I think this is quite a simplistic issue to remain unsolved.
royalblue
Thanks for answering. I found 2010 also to be very stable compared to previous versions, so let's hope 2011 is good enough.
