hi folks, Im working on a project with large amouts of people. We are using animated got 3d and manully copying them about. Its not working out to well so what are the solutions for crowds say 100 walking about. I dont really have experiance with 3ds max crowd sims.

When I see animations with too many moving people I feel really uneasy... but maybe that's just me. Static people in conversation groups, with just a few movers seems more appealing. I guess it depends on the subject though.

groups of people manually placed wouldnt be too hard for 100 people? to make it easier i would (if you aren't allready) collapse to edit mesh with pointcache and put them in a group with a spline that shows their path - otherwise it can be a nightmare to preview and coreograph them not walking into each other.

 

the other option is to use them in multiscatter - could be a bit of work stopping collisions though.
