Advice for my first `decent' renders

I am an AutoCAD business user for many years and have recently taken up Max and Vray as a hobby and for a home kitchen refit.

Through much trial and tutorials, I have produced the attached renders.

In addition to a few issues that I have been unsuccessful in resolving myself. I would welcome any positive criticism that will encourage me to produce better images.

The model is produced in AutoCAD 2010 and referenced in to Max 2010 Design Review.

Ceiling, in cabinet, under cabinet and kitchen hood extractor spotlights are all 'Target Lights' using a popular IES file I picked up from a tutorial (1589835-nice.IES)

Pendant lighting is sphere Vray light.

My main issue is hat I have cant seem soften the sharp shadows from the 'Target Lights' (best seen round the kitchen cabinet door handles and the edges of the wall cabinets from the ceiling spotlights)

Many thanks
