smithy_gas
Hi all. I am in the process of modelling an image taken from my back garden over the past few mornings. What I am getting is a beautiful shot as the sun starts to flood into the garden, leaving some frosted areas of grass and some where moisture is present (see image). I have been experimenting with proxies for the grass and have a few questions as to how to achieve the desired effects: 1. when modelling the grass to proxy I have tried adding dew/frost drops to the geometry and assigned a water material. This seems to annoy my system when it comes to rendering. 2. I am thinking of painting the frost on the maps within photoshop to generate the look, in experience will this work to gain the specular reflections of the sun? Hopefully some suggestions in this thread can help me and a few others. See some reference images below. Cheers
smithy_gas
Frost with painted texture in photoshop. Works fine at a distance. Will try to concoct a bump map for the closer shots.
