brvitorino
hi guys I´m still a lightscape user, and I know that I need to change it, but I dont know which software choose. All these softwares offer more than I need, however it is hard to start learning again and discover all those tips and tricks. Does anybody knows which software is less traumatic for a LS user? Tom Hamelrijckx
I was a Lightscape user myself and changed a year ago to finalRender, which can be quite overwhelming in the beginning, but it was worth it big time! I heard (not out of my own experience) that cinema4D would be easy to learn
Ernest Burden III
I was a Lightscape user myself and changed a year ago to finalRender, which can be quite overwhelming in the beginning, but it was worth it big time! I heard (not out of my own experience) that cinema4D would be easy to learn He did ask EBIII, sorry I've been slow to get to answering. I have not found Cinema easy to learn. Frankly, I don't know what to do myself. The more I see of other rendering systems the more I appreciate Lightscape. I still use it for 99% of my work. I'm doing my best to get used to Cinema, but for interiors it's been way too slow. The better users (ask STRAT) have it pretty well tamed. But coming from Lightscape, it isn't a smooth transition. Max would be worse, in my opinion (cost + quality of output). I have high hopes for the stand-alone version of vRay, which may be announced this year at Siggraph. Cinema is a good program, I'm glad I bought it. I just have to get to where it's productive like LS is for me now.
STRAT
EBIII is correct. C4D is tremendous for externals, but for internals you need 2 things buttoned down - 1) a fast pc 2) an infinate knowlege of C4D scene optomisation and work-arounds. one of the biggest time savers is pre-caching a gi solution. John Dollus
As a Lightscape user for many years, I have switched to Vray (job requirement). Let's just say that I'm still looking for a Lightscape replacement. Vray sure makes pretty pictures (if you have the time) but not as trustworthy as Lightscape. I remember the guys at Luminova had a translator for LS files to Mental Ray. That would be an interesting utility to test out....
