Aaron2004
Studio/Institution: StudentGenre: Commercial ExteriorSoftware: Max, VrayDescription: Hello! This is my first attempt at an evening rendering. It's not quite done yet (needs more vegetation, people, etc). Please ignore the mullions on the glass curtain wall. I need to improve these still. I have 2 questions: 1-My Kalwall (yellow, tranlucent wall) needs a texture, but I can't seem to get the bump map to work on it. It's a vrayfastsss2 material, preset as 'cream'. I want to avoid using a displacement map, as I'm guessing my render times will shoot up. 2-For the same wall, how can I make it more tranluscent? For instance, the curved knee-wall at the street side isn't showing the bushes behind it. The documentation for this material confuses me... Thanks, Aaron EDIT: I'm sorry if my wording confused anybody. The documentation for the SSS material confuses me, not for the kalwall. What variable do I change to let more light through? Ismael
Aaron, If it is a commercial of the shelf material or if you can disclose, show the documentation or parts thereof. There is always someone looking for a challenge and to also help a fellow out.
jinsley
Post some information on the material and then we can help... I think you need to study some images of scenes at dusk more... http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1680&bih=869&q=city+dusk&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g1g-m1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= http://www.mir.no/#/projects http://www.luxigon.fr/
Aaron2004
http://www.kalwall.comhere is a google image search for the kalwall product at night: http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1345&bih=664&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=kalwall+night&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= Also, thanks for the links for the exterior shots. I wasn't looking for a night shot as much as a was the time of day where there is still some daylight, but interior lights are certainly visible. perhaps my scene is a bit bright. Ismael
Aaron, There are a few treads here adressing "Kalwall". This one for example http://forums.cgarchitect.com/39623-daylight-analysis-help.html. Not specifically for Vray but may be helpful. I'm just now getting into these sss and translucent materials so, sorry I do not have a how to answer yet...
