kag245
Hi, I am relatively new here and also relatively new to this field. I graduated in March this year with a degree in Media Arts and Animation, but I've always been interested in the architecture side of things. So I got a job a little over a month ago doing architectural pre-visualization for shopping malls, stores, store fronts, strip malls, retailers, etc. I am doing alright and my boss is happy with my work so far, but I want to push myself further. I feel like I could be better if I had a better understanding of architecture and design. So my question is: what are some books or other resources that I could use to broaden my knowledge of this subject? I am having to design elements both inside and outside of buildings, so interior design help is good and building architecture help is good too. Thanks! 1d2d3d4d
the Ching books are great if you are trying to get a preliminary introduction.., building construction illustrated, form-space-and-order... other than that, magazines, history and designer books... my favorite is Detail magazine and their series of "In Detail" books- http://www.detail.de/rw_3_Archive_En_Hefte.htm everything is metric though-
kag245
These look like some good books. I will check them out. Things in metric are fine.

brianzajac
A few books we've come across for "inspiration" (plus one of our own): - http://3dats.com/best_book/ispirato-vol1.asp - visualization artwork of 43 artists from 17 different countries - http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/books/elemental/ - good artwork + some arch. vis. in there - http://forums.cgarchitect.com/212-visualization-pro-week/ - if you subscribe to the email newsletter, you'll get a visualization "inspiration" each week / bi-weekly. karankundra
There is a famous book called "Architecture WITHOUT architects" by Bernard Rudofsky (published in 1964) which covers all of the topics which you want...
