potsked
First off a thanks, I did this video (which got a metric ton of hits) with a lot of help from lurking around on this board: Second off, I'm doing more work and will finally get to make use of my giant Tyan s7025 Mobo by filling it with GPUs for Vray RT rendering. My question is this: If I put both a workstation card (Quadro) as well as 2 or 3 Nvidia GTX480s in my box, will I be able to direct the appropriate card to the appropriate software task? I'd love to run Solidworks with all the fancy graphics as well as get the performance from the GPUs for rendering in Vray. Would it be a simple matter of having the Quadro run the actual display while the gtx 480s sit unconnected?
AJLynn
Sure, but I wouldn't use the 480's, they're power hogs - the 580 is what you want.
AJLynn
Oh, one more thing, unless you want to start working with this stuff immediately, hold off on buying GPUs. From the chatter it seems that the Vray and driver updates that will support ATI cards are pretty close, as is another round of ATI GPU releases that may offer some advantages.
