Brian Cassil
My PS went out and I need to get a new one quick. I'm wondering if the PS was the source of the crashing problems I've been having so I really want to get something that's going to be stable this time around. Here's the specs on my system: Dual AMD MP 2400+ 1 gig of ram 4 case fans floppy drive CD drive 2 hard drives (stripped) geforce ti4600 video card I'm not sure if the perepherals wheigh on the powever supply or not but here they are just in case: 2 monitors printer scanner surround sound Any help is greatly appreciated. Allen
Purchased an Antec 480W a couple of years ago. Haven't had any problems with it - Bought 2 more PSs from them 6 months ago - again no problems. All are working like charms and are pretty quiet as well.
lxgrunger
but a 480w from Thermaltake. they are really powerful and can handle a lot of devices.
Frosty
My main worksattion is very similar: Dual 1800 Athlon 1.5GB Dual HDs (4 HDs at one point) GF4 Ti4400 Since day one with this machine I have been using a high end 550watt Enermax PS. Hasnt skipped a beat in 2 years of constant use. These PS units are bit pricey ($180 CDN right now), but I would scrimp on something so important for a high end work station. Faulty PS units have been know to cause fires.
Brian Cassil
I've heard that enermax is top of the line and that's what I was leaning towards but more like 460W. Do you think I really need something more like 550W?
