Brodie Geers
Ya, seems to be a common problem based on the number of questions about it. I tested SU 8 out but ended up going back to 7 Pro myself. Like many people, I didn't see anything in 8 that made it worth the measly $99 upgrade fee (which my company would be paying for). SU has a bit of history of providing better "point" releases than major releases though, so we'll see how 8.1 looks whenever it comes out. -Brodie
jbacus
Hi Phil, "Get Current View" in SketchUp 7 has been replaced by a new feature we call "Add Location." "Add Location" pulls photographic imagery directly from Google's Maps API as well as higher-quality terrain points from a brand new terrain service. Previously, SketchUp could only re-project points from the active Google Earth view. Data quality varies from location to location, but I think you'll be surprised by what's now available. john . -- John Bacus Product Manager | SketchUp Google, Inc.
