Vray Spawner + Win7 :(

Hello People,

 

I am new to DR however i followed all the steps on Spot3d to setup DR, Eventually when i start the Spawner it starts up and as usual it shows in the task bar and dissappears, I am having 2 machines just a small network test at home, I am using win7 on both and Max2009 with vray 1.5SP4 can anyone help me out , i am trying to run the service on the desktop and want to do my rendering on the Laptop. Any help will be much appreciated.

I think you'll have to elaborate on your problem a bit more if you want advice, as you haven't actually explained where the problem is. A good starting point is to check out what the vray log window reports to you.

Can your Win7 Machines find your Vray License? We've had to do a work around of where the License is referenced from a XP machine to a Win7 machine. This may be the issue???

well i am afraid i didnt understand your question camby , if it couldnt find the license then VRAY wouldnt start rite, I also check to see if the vrlservice is running and it is... I just dont seem to understand y does it flash and dissappear in the taskbar, do u think this could be a problem of "Access rights" bla bla ..its driving me crazy ..

If you mean it will flash on the screen and minimize to the taskbar, than thats normal. As long as its running within your processes than all should be ok

As Brian said, that's how the spawner works. You should see additional buckets working on your rendering workstation (one for each processing core contributing to the rendering).

yes guys thats wats happening..but the main problem is that vraydummy.max doesnt stay in the task bar after it minimizes dunno why ?

 

PS : I dont see the additional buckets for my desktop when em rendering

That's what it is suppose to do, that means your spawner is running and listening to be DBR'ed to. Everything is in working order...

DR is tricky , you should contact chaos support

I solved that problem by running Vray Spawner as an administrator, however It's still not working properly, the V-Ray log is saying "warning: unable to connect to host 192.168.0.7: 2" and it's not rendering any buckets.

 

I don't know if this is a win 7 issue or something else (firewall maybe?), I'll know shortly, i'm setting up 2 other win 7 machines right now and will know more soon.

I solved it here also with running as admin, alternatively, you need to open up the port (Or add an exception for the vrayspawner.exe) in windows firewall
