danb4026
Here is the exact same file rendered in the vray frame buffer and then with Vray RT as activeshade renderer. Notice the difference in reflection and highlights. If one were to use RT to get their materials down prior to going to production rendering, wouldn't their materials be off? If I was fine tuning specular highlights and reflection glossiness, etc., it seems to me that RT is not that helpful. Am I right or wrong? Devin Johnston
This has been an issue since RT first came out, I had to create a specific RT scene file in order to get RT to generate similar images as the production engine does, it is a pain but you have to do it. danb4026
Devin, how did you go about that?
Devin Johnston
It took a lot of trial and error, basically I started with a brand new scene using a physical camera set to still and a physical sun and then just experimented until I got something that worked. danb4026
Were you able to create some settings that would make RT and production match within the same file? Something that created parity in files moving forward?
Devin Johnston
Yes, the problem is the type of camera used and the color mapping of the camera, I've only been able to get a Still camera to work with the below CM settings. Color Mapping- Linear Multiply dark M=1 bright m= 2 gamma= 2.
