This render is just for fun of testing in max, unfortunatly i couldnt import trees cos everytime the system crashes... I wonder how many polygones do you guys use in your files... One tree equal 1 million polygone should i keep using RPC's? Thanks
cataco
Hi, rac2181. My guess is you're using the 32 bit version of 3ds Max 2010, wich can only handle 2GB of RAM (3GB if you use the unstable /3G switch). If you can't migrate to a 64 bit OS or don't have more than 2GB RAM on your system anyway (or even if you do), you should learn how to use Mental Ray proxies, wich will allow you to manage scenes in the millions of polygons effortlessly and bypass RAM limitations. I am a V-Ray user myself, but the principle for V-Ray proxies is the same, and I've created scenes with tens of thousands of hi-poly trees, without ever reaching 3GB of RAM usage (exterior scene with only one light - sun). You will find some Mental Ray proxies tutorials in YouTube. Don't you dare to go back to RPCs Good luck and have a happy new year. Crazy Homeless Guy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_angle "Dutch tilt, Dutch angle, oblique angle, German angle, canted angle, or Batman Angle are terms used for a cinematic tactic often used to portray the psychological uneasiness or tension in the subject being filmed." EDIT: ...if it is just a test scene, then the angle is fine. But keep in mind angles like this evoke uneasiness. Not something you typically want when doing arch viz.
