Lester_Masterson
Great find. There is something about the clarity and sharpness of the images that really got to me. The dead pigeon in the wastebasket was oddly moving. (Probably doesn't help I'm listening to Linkin' Park's "A Thousand Suns" while browsing these images)
neko
real skill capturing people in such vulnerable positions / situations. i can never take good pictures of people - especially when it interferes with architecture.
AJLynn
This has been making the rounds, and I'm really quite impressed by every aspect of it. That he found the negs at a nothing auction, that there were one or two thousand (thousand!) undeveloped rolls. (And they're 40-plus years old! And they can still be developed! And they're 120, which means no metal cartridge like 35mm - the film was protected for 40-plus years by rolled up paper!) And then looking at the work, I'd have to say she's the best street photographer I've ever seen whose initials are not H.C.B., but until now she's been completely unknown. k-ram
There was a huge Vivian Maier expo here in Oslo just recently and I was completely struck by the quality and talent (and the myth)...and invested in 3 photographs http://www.the-apartment-gallery.com/the-apartment-gallery.com/Home.html If you have the chance, go and see her work - the photos are definitely on par with the classics! Cheers, Knut
Tommy L
Oh, and for anyone in Chicago (or planning a visit) I believe her work will be showing at the Cultural Centre (which is free) from Jan 8th til April. There's enough work for like twenty concurrent exhibitions!
