bigcahunak
Perhaps I'm just inviting arrows my way, but... Scrolling the main forum page lately became like browsing a phone book database, and I'm using big screen + hi res. It looks to me that we have a somewhat too many forums. Most 2D painting ones could easily be combined to "Photoshop and other 2D editors". Archicad, ADT, Revit won't fight between them sitting in a " Parametric CAD" Forum. click the Today's post and check the involved forums. Check it again the day afterwards and the week after that - it's most likely to be the same list repeating itself. Even "Comments and Feedback" and "Suggest a New Forum" could easily find their way into "General Discussions" forum. The "Modeling" and "Animation" are always application related topics and most times would fit better under the relvant application's forum, or tutorial's forum. WADAYA say? kicks
>mmmm... i say it's fine with me the way it is now. Could be more convenient(personal opinion) to "get back" at posted specific topics.
Crazy Homeless Guy
the forum i supposedly moderate (formZ) only sees maybe 1 post a month. obviously a lot of people don't come here for support on their software. 3dmax and a couple of others do see a lot of action, but beyond that, their are several who are in the extremely low end. i really don't have a good solution for what to do about it as far as organizing the information. maybe you could 'roll up' those forums that bother you by clicking the double arrow on the right side of the forum list. this does necessarily solve your problem, but it is a start. i doubt the board supports this, but if their were a user customizable interface where we could pick what boards showed on our forum list, that might work. but i think that last idea is extremely wishful thinking. it does not bother me the way it is, but if there is a better way, then.... maybe. Jeff Mottle
Hey guys, Yeah there are alot of forums, many that don't get used that much, but do get used. The other option is to create sub-forums. So rather than all the softwares being listed on the front page they woudl be listed for example as 3D software etc. You woudl have to click on the 3D software forum to get to the list of all the 3D software forums. I know some people might complain about this so let me know what you guys think. There could be a few other optimizations too, but let me know what you think of the above. jucaro
Why not make the default view of the forums a layout of the most recent activities since the last 2 days (or a customized setting per user) and then put somewhere on the page to click on to, to switch to the standard layout? CHG said this does necessarily solve your problem, but it is a start. i doubt the board supports this, but if their were a user customizable interface where we could pick what boards showed on our forum list, that might work. but i think that last idea is extremely wishful thinking. CHG's idea would also be nice to have. Its more or less what the sites at MSNBC's and other news feeds sites offer.
Jeff Mottle
I don't want to hack the forums code as it void the support agreement and makes it diffucult to upgrade, so I cant do any changes like that to the forums.
