Alyosha
Hey, i got a series of spline shapes that i would like to connect into one surface, probably using loft? The splines have different number of vertices, will that produce good results? Any other approach to do this properly? Loft tool in max is terribly confusing, how does one add more than one shape to a path? Stephen Thomas
Loft is fine for what you want to do. First you need to go into top view and draw a line in the direction you want to loft i.e. from your first curve to your last one (use 2.5d snap). Then select the line you just drew and apply your loft. Now you can attach your cross section shapes at whatever percentage you like. So, assuming your curves are equidistant, do 'get shape' on your first one, change the path value to 50 and repeat 'get shape' on your second curve, then change path value to 100 and do 'get shape' on your last curve. Alternatively you can use distance or path steps instead of percentage.
Alyosha
thanks, i figured loft out yesterday but the geometry and what i wanted to create was too complex to work, i'm at good ol' edgestrude now:-) only 60 km of highway to go...*sigh*
