potsked
So I got work to spring for $3500 Boxx tech workstation, a standard 4880 build with one Quadro 600 to run Solidworks with RealView enabled and one GTX 580 to run Vray RT+GPU. Multiple driver re-installations on both cards have yet to yield me the RealView option in Solidworks. Both cards are operating with no apparent faults. The one monitor I'm running is going off the Quadro, so everything tells me I should have RealView. I even tried uninstalling the driver for the GTX 580, leaving it a dumb card, but no luck. I tried to research this possibility beforehand and everyone said go for it: http://forums.cgarchitect.com/63447-workstation-card-desktop-power-via-multiple-gpus.html I'M LOOKING AT YOU AJLYNN
AJLynn
Me? I can't anticipate everybody's driver bugs. Have you tried tech support?
Tommy L
Oof, scary, I hope your number is unlisted Andrew... Billy, first off, I checked the link you posted aaaand Andrew was the only person who responded. So if you dropped $3500 on the strength of one forum response, then thats not really what I would call research. Esp as this is a site centred around art and renderings rather that tech. Really your first stop should be Boxx customer support. That is their main sales pitch, 'we know everything so you dont have to' kind of thing. If you discussed your needs for the machine with them before buying it, Im sure they will exchange parts that are incompatible or point you toward the drivers you need. AJLynn
Good point, can Boxx support figure it out? You can probably make them test things for you - if they can't figure it out, try getting them to test Solidworks with a FirePro while a Geforce is installed, and if that works make them swap the cards. Elliot
Billy I use SolidWORKS...... I don't remember well all of the events..... in my case Realview started as a default when I placed the Quadro 4000. This was the first time I have ever seen the RealView in action. It really works good. Then I got all surprised and started wondering why my old laptop with a Quadro 1600 had never displayed RealView. Well.... I found there is an Icon you have to press to activate the RealView option in case the unit didn't default to RealView. Have you check that little Icon....? I know it sounds silly.... For two years I was mad that I couldn't see RealView. I took the laptop to my dealer and they advised me to change the laptop..... This week I discovered that Icon by accident.....!
