AMD 6970 and 3ds max

Hi!..

I am about to build a new computer system, however, there is one question that is unanswered. There are two graphic card's I am considering, the Nvidia GTX 580 and the AMD Radeon 6970. I have found a lot of information regarding the 580... but I have searched high and low for graphical data such as rending/3ds max/photoshop information regarding the 6970 without result. Both cards are relatively powerful, however the 6970 has 2 GB VRAM, about ~500 mb over the GTX 580. To my understanding this helps with loading big 3d scenes. The GTX 580 is however more powerful by a margin (not too big). Does anyone have experience using the 6970 card, or suggestions based on the technical data available? Does it fare well the 3ds max? Can you provide a perspective of its use against the 580? .. Also, how is the driver support?
