Tim Saunders
So, I have struggled to figure out the best way to run distributed rendering without having missing maps. There are just WAY too many models I have created and/or saved over the years on the network that do not have their bitmap paths updated. I just need to configure my external user file paths for the key directories. The problem is, the license has expired on a few of my render nodes. Is there an ini file or something I can copy and paste from a box that has the file paths configured to the other boxes? OR, any other ideas? Crazy Homeless Guy
I would try something like this, though I haven't actually done it before... Add an external path pointing towards your network, and tell it search subpaths. Save the mxp path file, and then copy it to the individual machines. Hopefully that path file will load when the render node launches, and it will search the path and locate the maps. Not sure if it will work, but that is where I would start. John Pruden
Use UNC paths for ALL your textures. You can use the Asset Tracker to set new paths for images that max has found, and for images max can't find use Collin Senner's "Relink Bitmaps" script. It's a life saver!
