iwanp
Hi. This is possibly a stupid question but one I cannot seem to find the answer to. I have a screen mapped texture in a perspective view, but want to 'bake' this texture onto the object to view it from a slightly diferent angle. When I texture bake however it looks nothing like the screen mapped version. screen mapped version after texture baking I realise this is a cheap and nasty way of mapping an object, but it is the easiest for this project. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
erickdt
Could you do a planar UVW map and use the align with view option? E
iwanp
Unfortunately not that easy. The camera will be animated and I don't want the map to move with the camera. Also the align to view, due to it being in perspecive mode, will tile the map oddly over the whole object. Nice idea but I had tried that and failed. Peter M. Gruhn
Looks like you baked to a fairly low resolution map. Looks like your after bake mapping is off. Check the map channels of the bitmap and the UV mapping on the object. The camera from which the mapping is taken doesn't have to be the camera you view the scene. erickdt
The camera from which the mapping is taken doesn't have to be the camera you view the scene. Exactly. You can duplicate the camera in question and if like delete it while you're in that view which will change it to a simple perspective (not camera) view in the viewport. Apply a UVW map to your geometry and align it to the perspective view. I think that would work. E
iwanp
Thanks for the advice guys. Your comments got me thinking in a slightly diferent way about the situation after another couple of failed attempts. I knew there was an easy solution. But sometimes you are so focused on doing it one way that you miss the obvious. In the end I used camera map by pixel... works a treat.
