Jock
I usually model everything from scratch in max so have no issues but a new has me importing half done models which were done in Autocad. Problem is, what is a nice curve in CAD is a bit of a jagged mess in max, so instead of the curve being made out of say 2-30 edges, its made up of 4 if that makes sense. Anyone know how i should be importing the model to get round this? Ive tried using different settings though im kind of doing it blindly and not making much difference. iwanp
I would normally use facetres command in autocad to increase the number of curve steps before saving. Also I am not sure if it a bug but sometimes file link rahter than import helps in max.
erickdt
You'll want to adjust the "maximum deviation for 3D solids" setting in the AutoCAD import dialogue. The smaller this number is the smoother your curves will be. I normally set it to between .001"-.005". E
