hello guys... again another issue in new company... =_='' gosh...

well... it happens that my team members, they used to put their texture files into D drive. but as for my pc, i dont hav D drive.

so whenever i continue any of their work, i will have to reset texture path/link issue...

which of coz, all of us will choose to use bitmap/photometric paths utilities tools...

but the thing is that there are some certain files, when i open the bitmap/photometric paths utilities tools, it just doesnt display any texture inside. there is totally nothing inside... when i launch the files, it appears a long list that i have missing texture. but when i goes into bitmap/photometric paths utilities tools, it only display 1 texture....

what's going on??? how do i changed path if i face any of these case????

how do i make them appear back into bitmap/photometric paths utilities tools????

please help~!~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you clear something up. Are you accessing files localy or from a server? If you say 'team' I assume it should be a server on a shared network.

If you are accessing files localy then I assume your team have used dual hard drive machines C & D each with their own individual copy of files. Why don't you map a D drive on your machine and copy the content accross?

If you are getting files from a server, why don't you have a path to the required drive or why has it been named different?

To help you out, more info on your setup is needed.

sorry for super late reply...

Hi Deetee

Here I have the same problem.

Did you find a solution for it? (Other than paying 25 $ more for a piece of software as proposed by Track?)

Thank you

Christian

unfortunately not really yet bro...

at the moment i use file>manage>asset tracking for this issue. it works too...

but i seriously would love to have bitmap/photometric paths function properly as it is really handy for mapping tracking.

im sorry to make you confused a little.

to make thing simple, the bitmap/photometric path tools doesnt work properly for some unknown reason. it just doesnt display all texture maps that i have inside the scene. it just display one or two even though i have over 10 or 20 textures map inside the scene.

as for your question regarding my team work flow, we actually load all files locally. when i enter the company, they are using D:\maps\ for textures files path... but this crappy pc that im using now, the D drive is only around 6-7GB. so i use C:\maps\ instead, which in fact i so much prefer C drive for maps files. so here comes my issue when i copy their D:\maps\ into my C:\maps. then trying to change all the path into my path within bitmap\photometric paths tool, this bitmap/photometric path tools just doesnt display all the textures i have within the scene......

i actually just wanted to xplain how i came across into the problems, but i din know that would confused you. hope that make it clear.

currently im using asset tracking method as said above, but i would love to know if in anyway i can fix this bitmap/photometric tools not detecting all mapping issue...

lately it seems that i dont have such problem anymore...

trying to look back the old file that cause me this problem, but couldnt rmber which file it is and also fail to dig it out...

i guess i fixed the problem without i myself know about it... but do you have “error parsing xaml file: root element missing” error??? and also about missing ribbon thingy....

if im not mistaken, ever since i fixed the ribbon issue, my problem solved. i able to use bitmap/photometric paths without an issue up until now.

apparently the problem is still there for me....

now i take over one of my colleague project, the bitmap/photometric paths didnt display all of the maps in my 3ds max... it just display part of them, and i notice there are bunch of them still missing through asset tracking tools.

does anyone knows how to solve bitmap/photometric paths issue???

i have found the bug !! you just have to search something in your scene that comes from autocad or archicad and select his texture. normaly the texture slot should be : "global" Autodesk generic. if you change this texture as a standard texture : all will be ok with the bitmap/photometric path editor. magic !

i can't explain it but it's work !!!!

I see... It doesnt happen in any previous version of 3DMax though...

and sometimes we just gotto have the autoCAD file inside 3Dmax as reference, thus not always we can just get rid of it.

Ever since this problem exist, I've been using "asset tracking" until now. It seems be pretty handy. and i probably will just stick with "asset tracking" since i kinda get used to it already.
