Crazy Homeless Guy
If you want to invest the time in researching and figuring out the process, I think there are 3rd party apps that will convert train files people have designed for use with Microsoft Train Simulator so that they can be imported into 3dsMax and the like. You would have to do the foot work on what you will need to do that though.
max.m
Yeah, the first matches in google always lead me to forumthreads of this Train Simulator. They have the exact trains there the architect wants to see, with the Rands of the Local Train company the textures. The Plan is, to finish all my work on this project, and if i have some time left i will try to convert a model from there. Will post my progress, if i makNeone;-) Edited January 31, 2011 by max.m
creasia
I keep telling everyone not to overlook the Google 3D warehouse. You need to sort through quite a bit of stuff, but I was able to find a wonderful train modeled after the Bombardier electric passenger line there. See this model http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=a2a67baf798eaa72dd8e272fd230200&ct=mdrm&prevstart=0 Also see my animation of a train at www.foresight3d.com within my demo reel.
