luckyluc
Hello, I have some question for someone who understands camera's. I have taken some pictures with the same settings and at the same height. Now I want to know which max-cam to use. The original cam says: focal lenght= 6 mm focal lenght in 35mm film = 28 mm. Can I just use the 28mm cam in max then? I would love to know how to calculate this. normally I just test and see. Here are the settings
Stephen Thomas
Yes, you can just use a 28mm camera in max if your film gate is at the default value of 36mm. In the case of a full-frame camera 36mm is the width of the sensor. Another way of doing it would be to input the sensor width from the camera the photo was taken on as the film gate value, then use the value of 6mm as the focal length. Both ways are correct. Edit: Sorry, film gate refers to Vray physical camera only! In your case you would use the 28mm value. This equates to the 6mm focal length multiplied by the focal length multiplier for your camera. You can find a list of common cameras and values here: http://jalbum.net/forum/servlet/JiveServlet/download/16-23102-170830-5578/cameras.properties Though your camera already tells you the 35mm equivalent, so go with that. luckyluc
Hello Stephen, Thanks for your answer. So if I am correct the 28 cam of max is good for the cam in my sceenshot. ( i use standard cam for this project) And the top of your answer is about the Vray-physical cam?
