The Brain and Extended Computer Usage

Here is an article about the brain and extended computer usage. I have come to the conclusion that my mind needs much more than what a computer can offer. I actually started a part time job in the evening doing physical labour and I have found that it is really good for my physical and mental health.

What are some things that you guys are doing to get a balanced lifestyle?

Don't listen much to brain theories, but when I feel really exhausted or exasperated, take a walk around the block until I feel revived again. Of course, gym, physical work, etc., is a must for someone enclosed in a space all day long, but the walk seems to fit me just fine if I'm in a crunch and don't have the time to go digging the garden.

This needs to be my new years resolution. I used to go to gym often and could run 10km without a thought - the stresses of 3D does terrible things to the body.

There is stress in 3d..???? Who said that??? :) I made a point about two years ago to get to gym (it could have been something to do with my wife asking me if marriage is an excuse to start piling it on...lol) and sinse then i run at about 6 a.m every morning and do gym 5 times a week after work... Have to say feeling awesome..

Haha. Maybe we should start a 3D running club :)

cigarette and a pint of wine plus some obscene swearing

if that fails mountain biking, road cycling, trips overseas or forcing yourself to do rewarding side projects - that preferably don't involve computers or arranging palm trees / 3d people.

Interesting stuff!! Breaks are the key, and not turning on a PC after work also helps!

I personally find the gym the most boring, soul destroying place I want to be after a hard days work. I'd rather play footie, walk the dog, or something else other than watching a load of vain health freaks sweating and grunting!

Reading a book or magazine is also a good way to detatch from the PC and it gives your brain a workout, especially if you read something interlectural, rather than Facebook "Lolz ROFL Catz" and other random mind polution found on most web pages!
