isagreg
I have a laptop with nVidia GeForce FX Go 5600 video card, driver 44.82. The OS is WinXP. I wanna connect a projector to it and set the the display mode to "clone". But the only option I have is "extend my desktop onto this monitor". But in this case the image on projector is "extention" of my desktop, not the "clone". Please help me to set this thing up. Thanks in advance. Jeff Mottle
Hi Isa, I'm just looking at my display setting now as I have a dual monitor setup and wanted to confirm what you have tried. If you uncheck the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" you are still getting an extension on the LCD display? Do you need to be able to see one monitor on the Laptop and the other on the LCD? Maybe give us a quick idea of what you are trying to accomplish. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of the D-sub port on the laptop, or a mis-configured setting. Something to also look at if we can't get it figured out is an App called Ultramon. It gives you much more control over how multiple monitor displays work. http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/ I use it and it's a god-send. muzzy
check the F keys, it should show as a grey color how to switch laptop & projector.. For toshiba it is Fn & f5 for dell Fn & F8 combination keys. Nothing to do with your display driver. If you press once, it should show both, one more time, projector only and last laptop only. I don't know your laptop brand but most of them similiar.. Good luck..
Eric
Jeff, I use an NVidia Quadro 980XGL with the NView desktop manager from nvidia. Downloded the ultramon app, and can't seem to get it to override the Nview setup. How do I make the ultramon kick in?
isagreg
2 muzzy: Thanks!!! Thanks for quick reply. Thats it!!! You're right ... F keys... Fn+ F4 did the job... My laptop is HP zd7058cl. The thing is in display properties the "nView Display Mode" is missing (here you can change modes to clone, hor/ vert span, dualview). On my desktop it is there and I can change the display modes to whatever I want, but with laptop it is different. I totally forgot about F keys. Thanks again.
