acjwalker
For years we have put our planting in to our cgis using photoshop. But I see some other results and look and think ours doesnt quite live up to other examples. We use a selection of got3d and our own photos to plant up. Does anyone have any good techiques for planting, do you find putting them on planes and rendering in the scene works better? Also does anyone recommend any other 2d resources for planting? acjwalker
Do people tend to put them in post or render them within scene?
jinsley
Usually if the trees affect the scene with shadows, etc. or help with reflections in glazing I do them in scene. I think it really depends from scene to scene, and what the time line is... If a job is on a rush, then I just stick with PS.
WAcky
If you're doing them in photoshop, drop shadows, burn and dodge can make all the difference...
Conor Clancy
For large amounts of trees there's Forest Pro, a great tool for max found here: http://www.itoosoft.com/ It's cheap enough and very powerfull. Not so good for trees close to the camera, but otherwise, it's great. You can use any trees with it, the library that comes with it isn't great.
