VRAY Material parameters

Hi

I hope some one can clarify this doubt I have on the Vray material. My understanding is that if the reflect and refract values (RGB or HSV) are 0,0,0 with no maps, then all the other parameters within the tab has no effect on the render.

However, I notice that if I

a. Put a map on "Reflect" (say.. Checker map)

b. Switch on Fresnel Reflections

c. And turn down the IOR in the "Refract" tab to 0,

there is a definite impact on the output.

Question is when Refract value is 0,0,0 (with no map), shouldn't the other parameters have no effect on the outcome??

Regards,

GP

On the maps rollout, if your 'map' ammount is set to 100%, it will totally overshadow the color spinner.

From Max help:

"The Amount spinner determines the amount that the map affects the material

expressed as a percentage of full intensity. For example, a diffuse map at 100%

is completely opaque and covers the base material. At 50%, it is

semi-transparent and the base material (the diffuse, ambient, and other colors

of the material without mapping) shows through."
