danb4026
I am ditching my existing flash site. All of my current images are from way back when I first started doing this work and it is too hard for me to update and add new images myself, so I have to pay someone to do it. I am going go do a simple photo gallery in Bridge with a homepage and thumbnails. I don't know what size to make the thumbnails or main images. My screen is 30" but most viewers will probably be smaller. Can anyone suggest what resolution would be best for web viewing of a single image per page? Jason Matthews
One of the basic concepts in web design is layout size. Key demographics show that nearly all screen resolutions are at least 1024x768 pixels (width x height). You can think of web content as a rendering that will be printed. If you know that an image will only be printed on 8x10 photo paper @ 300 dpi (standard print resolution) then your rendering would have to be 2400x3000 pixels. If you apply that same logic to an image for a website then one large image on the screen would need to be no larger than 1024x768 mentioned earlier. This assumes that you are trying to display an image to nearly all viewers without them having to scroll up and down the page. I would look at designing a conceptual layout of each page assuming a set resolution of the entire layout. Then whatever space you have alloted for the image will tell you what resolution the image should optimally be. I hope this helps.
