Final Toon for 3ds Max

Does anyone know if you can use Final Toon in 3ds max with Vray? I know it's a "post" effect but was not sure if it only works with the final render engine or if it works with any engine other than scanline....like Vray. I am thinking about buying Final Toon but am a heavy Vray user so it would be awesome if it worked with Vray.

I'm pretty sure Final Toon is part of the Final Render engine so it would only be available for use with Final Render.

So it won't even work with the basic "scanline" engine in 3ds max?

It's a Final Render plugin so it probably won't work with anything except for that engine, the question is why would you want to use it with anything else?

Because I use vray and scanline all the time. Isn't final toon just a post processing effect anyway? Doesn't it happen after the render is complete? Or does it only work with the final render engine?

Not really it's tied into the materials so you can't even use it unless FR is chosen as the render engine. Why don't you use VrayToon since you use Vray?

Well I used final toon in the past with only the default scanline render engine and it worked. Are you sure about that?

 

I don't use vray toon because the flexibility and power is not the same as final toon in my opinion
