LukeC
When importing your dwg, try checking the Weld nearby vertices with a threshold of something small (50mm or so - whatever doesnt cause you to loose detail) and also increase the Curve steps when the data comes in. If thats not the case, it sounds like your data is coming in way off 0,0. Make sure you center your cad data in AutoCAD (or similar) before you import, and make sure your units in cad are the same as that in max. Basically, the further away from 0,0 your data becomes, the less accurate max is in displaying this (see Customize - Units Setup - System Units Setup for a slider to demonstrate what I'm talking about). Dave Buchhofer
sometimes the curves show as linear instead of curves... I forget which since i haven't run into it in a while, but you can either right click on the line segments and select Curve from the upper left part of the quad menu, or its on the Verts i forget which. That should do it.
Three D
In autocad set facetres to 10 and viewres to 20000 Another setting in 3ds max import is important but I'm in bed now and can't quite remember exactly what it is.
Sketchrender
The only I have gotten around this issue of lines going all over the place and loosing the original form , is of course that they re not modeled at 0,0,0. Start a new file. File ref it in as a reference, and it will come in at the original location which is the way most things are drawn these days at their proposed long' and Lat'. The lines should come in perfectly. Then bind it. group it and move it to 0,0,0. Then save it as a max file. Then start a new scene, and xref it in and model over it, it will not slow down the process as an xref. This of course if you do not have a cad package to relocate the original drawing to 0,0,0. Hope this helps. phil
TSuess
Your polyline should never begin at a corner. Redraw the troubled pline in AutoCad starting at the midpoint of a Straight LINE!
