MAX to SOLID

I am trying to save a max file as an SLT file to be printed on an STL machine(physical model). I need to convert what I HAVE to SOLIDS (I have tried converting geometry to both editable mesh and edit. poly before exporting)

Does anyone know of software or a script that will convert MAX GEOMETRY to SOLIDS? I've tried just about every conversion combination possible with no luck. :(

Im having trouble when saving straight from Max as an STL. When I do this, and pass it on to the company who will "print the model", they are telling me some of the faces are not visible. I thought of flipping the normals but, when printing a 3D model the geometry needs to be a SOLID. So this is why I think if I solve the problem of converting my max file to a solid, this will solve my STL problem as well. :D

BTW- Have you had a model printed on a rapid prototype machine before? the best price we found was on Quickparts.com.

Some time last year we attempted to retrofit a huge 3d model to make a 3d-printable STL model. It was a huge pain in the rear to try to fix a model that wasn't made with STL in mind.

The company I worked with (and I can't recall their name) told me to apply a "STL Check" modifier on each piece of geometry. This modifier will highlight each offending face of the object that the STL export doesn't like. Then you can try to edit the model to fix the problems. After every single object has passed the STL Check, you can feel confident it will export correctly.

Good Luck.

I'm putting the pressure on the company that will print the file to get the translation correct. to check each object seems way to complicated. I spoke to  the company this morning and they repaired the geometry on their end.
