Large-scale HDRI for animation

Recommended Posts

Hey peeps. I am working on a very large scaled animation about the size of a state university.

Setup:

Sphere set as skydome with Vraylight mapped with an HDRI.

I am having trouble using my HDRIs because they need to be so large to map to the dome that any trees on the horizon of the HDRI are the size of buildings. The other HDRI's that do not have trees in them have a horizon about 20% up on the image file.

Does anyone know of any HDRI that would be perfect for this situation? I don't mind paying but it would be nice to buy a-la-cart instead of a package of 20 where I would ever really only use 2 or 3.

One last issue - the animation will be shot from birds-eye view, pedestrian view, and everywhere in between.

Thanks,

If your interested I've taken a large collection of hdr's out in the australian desert for this. They all have flat horizons with out any trees to get in the way.

I am in the process of sorting a website for it. but if your interested contact me off list and I'll send you a pdf's woth previews of them.

You'd be even better off just using a vray sun and override the reflections with the HDR as a JPEG. It would render much cleaner/faster and I doubt you'd notice much difference in light quality once you do your color correction etc.

Unfortunately i think it's late but probably this HDRi would have fit your needs.

It's very big (12000px wide) but it also has a jpg version and a small & blurred version to speed up lighting calculation.

Last but not least it features a perfect straight horizon line. It's not free but you can buy it singulary for just $15.
