dantrodgers
I was wondering what people find is the best way to get from pen and paper drawings to a 3D model? I currently have pen & paper elevations and a master plan of my site, but I dont start learning ArchiCAD for another couple of weeks, so do you think i should wait till i have the completed CAD files then import to max just for rendering, or should i just start modelling in max now?? What are the advantages (if any) of going down either route?? Thanks in advance. -Dan
Sketchrender
Are you expecting cad drawings later from the client? if the pen and paper elevation is to scale and will not change , scan it in at HQ , save it as a Tiff, and model over it in Max. But if your expecting Cad drawings they will change they always do. Don't double up on your work. Waste of your time and money. Get on with the site model as it's the only thing you have at the moment thats right . phil
dantrodgers
sorry, should have said in the first post. I am at university studying architectural technology, the building is only a concept, never gona be built. We are meant to be starting ArchiCAD lectures soon, thats why i dont have any CAD drawings as yet, but the design that is on paper IS final, and will not be changed between now and the end of the year (i hope). What i am basically wanting to know is; Is it easier to draw in a CAD program and import the drawings to 3ds max, or to just go straight for it in max now (bearing in mind ill have the CAD files in 2-3 weeks)??
