MulinoBianco
Hi i am planing to buy this procesor(2600k,I am expecting only motherboards) and about 24 gb ram,i wanted to ask will i have tripple channel still,I am planing to use this for my work in 3ds max and v ray.Is 3ds max going to use all of the resors in right way or not?In pc shop they told me something that these new motherboards don't support the tripple channel with that processor, they told me if I buy this (24 gb ram) max won't use it 100% ... thanks Edited March 4, 2011 by MulinoBianco
AJLynn
The current generation of Sandy Bridge chips (for the 1155 motherboards) do not support triple channel mode. They have 4 memory slots, and it's possible to get them up to 32GB (check the particular motherboard to find out its maximum), though that would require 8GB DIMMs and if those are even available I haven't seen them sold anywhere. I can't really recommend going over 16GB anyway in a single CPU system, and 8GB in plenty for most users (unless you have specific knowledge of a good reason why you'll need more - but most Max users who overrun 8GB just aren't very good at using the software).
