JonRashid
From max you export as an .stl file. Most software that comes with the machines can handle these. You cn also check the integrity of your file with stl check modifier. Edited March 15, 2011 by JonRashid spelling
Noise
Try looking at some of the manufacturers documentation, there are specific dimensions that you need to adhere to especially with fine detail, if you go below it the model will fall apart. Some times you might have to make some architectural details larger than they are so that they don't fall apart or break. Bear in mind also that people like to touch these things and can discolour or break the model - we used to put it in a presentation box to prevent this - it also looks much more professional. There is also the issue of modelling it in such a way that you are efficient with the print material for example, having a hollow base instead of a solid base. Internals to buildings will have to have structure so, include floor plates and support walls for rigidity. Other aspects are whether you have large areas of glazing defined by the framing or having it solid with a colour to depict the glass. Jon is right about the stl check modifier however the software for the print machine is the best way to check if the model is "watertight". anejo
I outscource my 3d printing to my autodesk reseller. They're local so i'm able to pickup when the job is done. They have a zprinter http://www.zcorp.com/en/home.aspx (model number i don't know) but if you go to the website there's a lot of information there. Good Luck!
