rfothergill
This is my first post, be gentle. I'm drawing a classroom in Maya/V-Ray 1.5. Part of the classroom is a projector which projects the image from a laptop, computer etc. I'd like to have some kind of 'fog', highlighting the projector beams onto the screen (like shining a torch in smoke). Any idea how I can achieve this? I know strictly speaking it's not realistic to have such an effect but it's necessary for this particular project. Many thanks! Stephen Thomas
Hi Rick, welcome. You might not find too many Maya users on this forum, I can tell you how I would set this up in 3ds Max though and hopefully it will translate! Create a standard targeted spot, change parameters to rectangle and adjust hotspot/falloff to get a nice blurred edge. Under Advanced Effects put in your projector map. Set shadows to 'shadow map' and add a 'volume light' effect under 'atmosphere and effects'. You can increase the density to increase the effect. Here's a quick example. rfothergill
Thank you! That's exactly what I'm looking for! I'm seriously considering moving over to 3ds Max (fortunately the company i work for is fully licensed for both) - it seems to be the package of choice for the sort of thing I'm going! Thanks again, Rick
