Edward Davidson
It's important to say that I am self-taught in 3d Studio and haven't developed the skills well enough in Autocad to do the drawing I need, though I'm working on it. Anyway, I did a drawing of a footbridge in 3DsMax using the feet and decimal inches setting which I exported to the .dwg format and opened in Autocad 8. Using the standard dimensioning tools, I can get it to make brackets from one point to another but no units are displayed. Is it that the dimensions aren't transferred from 3DsMax or are there things I can do to get them to display? I am using an orthographic view of the side of the bridge. Any help appreciated. pwharton
Right click on the dimension string and pick” preferences”, find the “text size” and change it to a larger scale till it is visible in the view.
Brodie Geers
the problem is almost definately your scale. The dimensions are probably there but the text is coming into a scale that's way too small to see (you may be able to find it by zooming way in). I don't know Autocad 8 but you should have a Scale setting somewhere. It doesn't change the drawing at all but changes the size text and dimensions come in at (try starting out around 1/8"=1'0" or so) -brodie
