3ds Max Animation/Camera/Constraints

I have two questions about a scene I am animating for a pro-bono park project.

Scene set-up: I have a camera attached to follow a path and the camera target attached following a second path (I know I need to make it follow a dummy attached to the path instead).

1. I am curious if there is a way to make the camera slow-down, stop and speed-up along certain sections of the singe path?

2. If I set my target to attach to something can I make it switch to another target during the scene? I tried to rig this in a sample test and it seems to only follow whatever the last object you attached to.

I don't think I need a step-by-step tutorial, but more of a pointing in the right direction some subject areas I can search. Thanks!

1. Yes, just move the keyframes to adjust speed. Make sure to have the cam&target selected otherwise one will go faster/slower than the other.

2. In the motion/parameteres / transform go to link constraint and add link to the new target. You'll need to change the key mode from No Key to Key Nodes / Child.

Hope that helps

Maciej

So Solution for #1 works great. Thank you!

I still need a little help getting #2 to work. I followed you directions and I am not getting the proper results. Seems to still only follow one dummy. To clarify: I have a single camera that I want to watch along one path for the first half of the animation. Then, I want the camera to switch to another path and watch along that second one for the second half of the animation. When I use the "AddPath" it seems to just be splinting the difference between the two. I'm really not sure what to do at this point.

I understand that you are using path constraints for your dummies. That's fine but from the sounds of it you've added the same constraint to the camera, or you've used only 1 dummy.

First add path constraint to 1st dummy and animate it, add 2nd path and dummy add the constraint and animate it.

Then create the camera and add Link constraint for the camera to the 1st dummy and at the frame that you want to switch add link to the 2nd dummy.
