rawalanche
Hello, i am working on a personal 3D project of Esherick House by Louis Kahn. There is not much references on the internet about it so i gathered all i found... it is quite hard to put it together with such a few information, but i was being sucessful until now. I have ran into the problem with modeling those small windows on the sides of main windows. They are covered by those double doors. Looking at photo references, the windows are being opened from the inside, since that is where the handles are located, and there are no handles on the outer side. But on most of the references it is obvious that there is a glass behind the doors. So my question is... How do they open those window doors through the glass ? I am attaching some references so you can see: http://i.imgur.com/mAuc1.jpg http://staticimg.openbuildings.com/staticD/building2672/media/media_41.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/101/255122840_5c7eb14c3b.jpg http://rarface.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/louis-kahn-esherick-house.jpg?w=397&h=320 http://designlab.snu.ac.kr/bbs/data/designlab1/Esherick%20House%20%EC%95%9E%EC%97%90%EC%84%9C%282006.%203.30%29.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3215/2451533641_bc4148850b.jpg Thanks in advance for your help
Batista
A very important part of every house is the fenestration, which means the selection, size, and arrangement of the types of house windows. There are three general types of windows: those that slide up and down, those that slide sideways, and those, called casements, that are hinged at the side and swing out or in. The types of house windows that slide horizontally are at the moment more in favor, perhaps because these new aluminum windows lend themselves particularly well to the modern house.Kitchen accessories
jsf
pushpullbar.com has a few threads and some photos on the Esherick house. You might try there. It looks to me based upon the photos found at this thread http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/showthread.php?8216-Louis-Kahn-s-Esherick-House-to-be-auctioned that the openings have neither glass nor screens. That is only my conclusion after a cursory glance. You will have to do some more research for a more definitive answer. The pushpullbar members may be able to help you since their discussion is generally directed at the actual architecture.
rawalanche
Okay, thanks for your responses... it seems like the glass window frames are openable too... Also i got another thing i think about but i dont want to start another thread about esherick house so i am gonna put it here... What kind of furniture would you put in esherick house... i want something little more modern than what is on photoreferences that i found. I want it to emphasize wood material, no sterile chrome glossy stuff. But mainly something that would fit in such a famous building and not break it's spirit... any ideas will be appreciated

Batista
Interior design earnings vary based on employer, number of years with experience, and the reputation of the individual. For residential projects, self-employed interior designers usually earn a per-hour fee plus a percentage of the total cost of furniture, lighting, artwork, and other design elements. For commercial projects, they may charge per-hour fees, or a flat fee for the whole project. The median annual earning for wage and salary interior designers, in the year 2006, was $42,260. The middle 50% earned between $31,830 and $57,230. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $24,270, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $78,760.For example, if a person opens a business and decides to specialize in furniture design and flooring, they will get only clients focusing on these topics rather than a variety of every type of issue that comes with designing a home.
