danb4026
I have tried blend with a coat that reflects etc, but I cannot seem to get a vray light material to reflect. Anyone have a workaround that works right out of the renderer rather than applying in post?
luthias42
due to the nature of reflections and lights it's always going to be difficult to do what you want. I have some success using a blend mat with one mat being a vraylitmat and one vraymat you will have to mix them a good bit, however in order to keep you object truly lit your probably going to have extremely subtle reflections at best. I not sure if anyone else has a better idea, but that's the best one I can think of at the moment. Good luck
danb4026
Thanks William. Thought there might be some trickiness to get the result I want. Welcome any ideas.
Stephen Thomas
I've always managed to get decent results using the Vray Blend Material. Just make sure that your coat material has black in the diffuse slot. Obviously areas that are very bright in your light material won't show up much reflections. Here's a quick test with a checker map in the light material.
danb4026
I was able to get these results with neutral gray in the diffuse slot. I will try it with black. It's the orange lit boxes beneath the counter.
Crazy Homeless Guy
Alternately, you probably could have used a Vray 2 sided material that had translucency and then place a glowing box in the center that had a Vray light material applied to it. luthias42
another thought you could try is to use 2 objects, one with a reflective but transparent material in front and then your light box behind. just make sure that the first object is 1. a single plan and 2. that it's close enough to the box to not show any thickness and yet far enough to not give you the co-planar issues.
