2D Cad pacakge for MAx

I am asked a lot to export out the model as a dwg , and send it back to the architect, as they want to bring the drawings up to date to the changes that were made to the Model.

Ligthwave had a cad package for it's 3D package for people to clean up and draw, first and model later.

I know there is autocad lite , and the obious route would be Revit or some other bim package but ...what the general opinion on this.

I noticed the suites that Autodesk have don't have max and revit together in one suite, that for me would make sense.

Max and Revit are getting better together, but it sounds to me like you are looking more for a highly accurate solid CAD modeler.

The problem with Revit is that it is a building information management tool, not necessarily a building information modeling tool. It does modeling, but the modeling is crude compared to what most of us expect, and you will more than likely need AutoCad at some point to finesse the Revit 2d drawings.

I used to use FormZ in this sense, but it isn't part of my workflow now. I would be curious if anyone else has a solution that can server as a CAD modeler and drafter without necessarily doing building management at the same time, because that isn't what you actually need.

...I have often wonder if this is something Autodesk Inventor might be able to fill if you are hell bent on sticking to the Autodesk suite. I haven't worked with it, so I don't know how the data exchange between Max and Inventor works.
