cbcarch
How to export to OBJ from 3dsMax with FBX materials from Revit and retain materials/maps? Workflow: Generate model in Revit 2011; export to FBX; FBX into 3dsMax Design 2011; export to OBJ. Need maps intact on OBJ model. Anyone know of a script or plug-in for Max that can do this? any help appreciated
Thablanch
Autodesk FBX converter http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=10775855 Will allow you to convert the model from FBX to OBJ..
cbcarch
Thanks for the reply. We have tried the Autodesk Converter, but the maps/materials to not transfer to the OBJ model. It has to do with Mental Ray Protein 2 and the new Autodesk Materials not working with the converter, or via export from Max.
creasia
This works well. Give it a try. Go to the Maxscript menu, select run script and run the downloaded file. Revit materials are converted into Mental Ray Arch+Design materials in import, so the "Material Converter v0.98b" script found at http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/sc...tags/converter can convert all (or the majority) of your materials to scanline, which exports out of max into an obj format. Happy file conversions!
