heni30
Hi, I received a Max/Vray model from a client of a small mall shop and the whole shop model is inside a solid white chamfered box. The box has been made invisible to the camera. What it does is light the model uniformly a little and smooth out contrast and soften the image. How much it lights and softens depends on the size and color intensity of the box. Is this a common lighting technique? Thanks.
Thablanch
I do not think so... but if it works for the use.. why not
heni30
Here's a pic of the box - It looks like another way of doing environment lighting but is has the advantage of being about to control shadow softness by moving the sides of the box closer or further away - give it a try! carlotristan3d
This technique is similar to putting a sphere as environment lighting, but this is done for exterior renders. But hey, as the previous poster says; whatever works for you.
