Tim Nelson
I'm trying out a Geforce 5900 xt right now, mainly because the Quadro FX 1100 I ordered is not working on my system for unknown reasons - lockups, etc. I was wondering how much performance can be gained from the 5900 using Riva Tuner. All I really need is good performance in Viz 2005, and would love to be able to use the Maxtreme drivers. The guru3d forum is utterly confusing to me, so I thought I might have some luck here. So can a Geforce 5900 be modified to compare to the performance of a quadro and if so, how???
Videha
As Far As I Know The Gf 4200 Was The Last One That Could Be Tricked Into Beliving It Was A Quatro
bigcahunak
Yes, the GF5900 could be turned into FX3000 acording to this http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85614 Yes, this forum is VERY confusing unless you spend half your life there. Guess what I did... bought an older quadro (700XGL) which is much more than what I need. Good luck

Guess what I did... bought an older quadro (700XGL) which is much more than what I need. Good luck I know. I really want to figure out how to do this, but with the time put into doing it, I could have done a whole rendering job that would pay for a nice card that doesn't need to be modified at all! I think I'll still give it a shot though.....grr.. How is the 700xgl much more than you need? Did you use the riva tuner on it?
bigcahunak
No, I didnt use anything on it accept for WHQL drivers and maxtreme. I always claimed that arch scenes are relatively simple and low poly (at least the ones I ge to see). I also try to model as efficiently as I can, regardless to my hardware capabilities. BTW: note that even those guys claiming for success with the 5900>FX3000 still have problems along the way. If you are ready for games, instabilities and lack of support when you need it than just spend more time @ guru3d.
Tim Nelson
Thanks for the advice. It seems like such a good utility, but I'd probably be better off leaving it alone, since I really don't have a clue. I'm just dissapointed I can't get the maxtreme drivers to work for a geforce card.
xgarcia
Timm, I Rivatuned my old GeForce3 Ti500 64MB into a true QuadroDCC (this is the last card that was a true hardware hack). The Geforce4's convert halfway or something like that. With my GF3, I've been using latest maxtreme with max6 easy as pie. I don't don't really need much more. The GF3's are hard to find now b/c they are so old - I saw only one come up in a pricewatch search the other day....or you could spring for a 700xgl or 980. Check pricewatch or newegg. Good luck. Check out this previous thread.
Zdravko Barisic
5800 CAN be moded into quadro 1000 with Detonators 44.xx-45.xx Someone aslo say that the same can be done with the 5900/5900xt but I didnt check Check the visual identity of the cards, the more it looks like real quadro, possibility is more. As it was said up, Ti series is OK, even I have Soft 580XGl on my PC, and it works very good, no crashes still....
